Junk the Junipers - Rapid City Area
~Please see the Rapid City Wildland Urban Interface Primary Hazard Zone map ( ) for your home's eligibility (areas in red). This may include the subdivisions of Carriage Hills/Wildwood, Countryside/Red Rocks, Pinedale Heights/Kingswood, Springbrook Acres/Sheridan Lake Road, Skyline/Woodridge, and Chapel Valley/Lane.
~You MUST be present when the work is being performed. The crews will be working from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a morning time block of 8:00 - 12:00 AM, and afternoon time block of 12:00 to 3:00 PM. Work is performed using chainsaws and various hand tools with the junipers being flush cut to the ground, chipped and hauled away.
~Participants will receive $30 towards a Fire Resistant plant at the Plantsmyth in Rapid City!

Work is performed by the Rapid City Veteran Wildfire Mitigation Crew (part of the Rapid City Fire Department) and planning/administrative work happened in collaboration with SD Wildland Fire and the Rapid City Fire Department.
